Touch A Truck Returns to Downtown Opelika on June 6
Get ready to honk the horn and climb into the driver’s seat! Opelika Main Street is thrilled to announce the return of the annual Touch-a-Truck event, taking place on June 6 from 9 a.m. to Noon in the heart of downtown.
This free, family-friendly event invites "kids" of all ages to explore the massive vehicles that keep our community moving. From towering fire engines and sleek police cruisers to heavy-duty construction equipment and specialized utility trucks, attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet local heroes and learn how these impressive machines operate.
“After the incredible community support we saw during our recent Coffee Crawl, we wanted to keep that momentum going with an event that celebrates our local workforce and provides hands-on fun for families,” said Kelsey Sullivan, Executive Director of Opelika Main Street, “It’s a great way to spend a Saturday while supporting the downtown businesses that make our district so vibrant.”
Event Highlights Include:
The "Quiet Hour": From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., we will host a horn-free period for children with sensory sensitivities, ensuring everyone can enjoy the trucks without the loud sirens or honking.
Meet the Operators: Drivers from the Fire Department, Public Works, and local construction firms will be on-site to answer questions and give "tours" of their cabs.
Explore Downtown: Local merchants and eateries will be open families exploring the area.
Touch-a-Truck is part of a packed day in Downtown Opelika, coinciding with Burger Wars and Heritage House Midsummer Market & Northside Classic Car Show
